Biden once again advocates for new charging pile regulations, emphasizing their significant importance for the future of American energy

US President Biden once again spoke out this week about the policies and bills related to the construction of charging stations that he had previously promoted. In February of last year, the Biden administration exempted the use of American materials and other restrictions on the construction of charging stations, requiring only that the charging equipment itself be assembled domestically. However, this exemption policy was strongly opposed by Republicans led by Marco Rubio, who launched a resolution to abolish the exemption. Although the resolution was narrowly passed by the US Senate and House of Representatives in November of last year and January of this year, and submitted to Biden for signature, Biden vetoed the resolution on January 24th of this year.

 

In today’s public speech, Biden said, “Our charging pile construction plan is a key cornerstone for the United States to move towards a clean energy future. We are committed to implementing the ‘Buy American’ localization requirement for electric vehicle charging equipment in stages next year. This is not a simple economic decision, but a strategic layout that concerns our national energy security and future competitiveness

 

The White House spokesperson added, “In the past, we have seen some positive developments, with some companies increasing their investment in the production of charging station components in the United States. At the same time, we are actively coordinating with all parties to solve possible problems. We believe that the charging station industry in the United States will experience rapid development in the coming years

 

A reporter on site asked about the possibility of Congress attempting to overturn the veto again in the future. Biden smiled but remained silent, while his assistant expressed confidence that the government would respond to various situations.
